Who I Am

Professional  Background

Beth L Dougherty first earned a Master's degree in the Anthropology and Sociology of Religion at King's College, UK in 2004.  After graduating, she began teaching and working as a consultant.  

​

In 2009, Beth returned to pursue her PhD after five years working in industry while teaching at a variety of different types of institutions.  She earned her PhD in Sociology in August 2018, with a mixed methods dissertation focusing on the intersection between interactions, experiences, and effectiveness.  

 

Beth has gained research experience in both academic and industry settings. She has worked as a developmental editor for private clients, as well as for Rowman and Littlefield. She has peer reviewed for a number of academic journals and written book reviews as well as academic articles and presentations. As a research assistant, she also served as editorial support for faculty. More recently, Beth has focused on providing coaching and developmental editing support for PhD candidates in a number of disciplines. 

 

Beth provides research support for both individuals and organizations. Her experience ranges from rapid prototyping with focus groups to store 360 surveys and comparative organizational impact analyses for non-profit organizations. She has conducted academic research that ranges from statistical analysis of large data-sets to online interviews of members of a particular subculture. She has also supervised research assistants and provided external support for the construction of credible research for students and employees outside of the social sciences.

 

Beth has experience working with multiple software packages that support mixed methods research as well, ranging from SPSS to MAXQDA, and can provide assistance in the coding and analysis process.
